The world’s best Freestyle Motocross athletes are coming back to the Bavarian Capital

Coming on the 22nd of April, 2017, NIGHT of the JUMPs will storm the Bavarian state capital for the seventh time. The longest running Freestyle Motocross competition series will feature the best riders flying through the Olympiahalle for the season’s fifth contest. Some of the most successful riders in the world will be on show, including Germany’s own FMX Superstar, Luc Ackermann as part of the team.

Every year, more than 10,000 FMX fans flock to the Munich Olympiahalle to see the most dangerous FMX tricks performed on their 2 and 4 stroke motocross machines and to experience every high and low of the night.

Since last year, there has been an incredibly large FMX track in Munich with three dirt landings and seven take-off ramps. This gives the athletes even more options to perform newer and harder FMX tricks. For the first time in Munich, three Quarter Pipes will be placed in the Olympiahalle so riders can choose either the Egg Roll or 540 Flair to both sides.

Eleven of the world’s best FMX athletes are fighting for important points in their NIGHT of the JUMPs Tour Championship and in 2017, this could be the most hard-fought battle of all time. This includes the results from the FIM FMX World Championship and the results from the International Events.

Maikel Melero

The defending champion from Spain, Maikel Melero, is already in the lead in the World Championship standings. The former World Champion Libor Podmol (CZE, 2010) is currently in second place and in third place, Pat Bowden from Australia who has shown spectators his newly landed Double Grab Backflip.

Luc Ackermann

Germany will have the chance to watch two of their own competing in Munich.   After Luc Ackermann’s impressive comeback to NIGHT of the JUMPs in Krakow (3rd position), he will be looking for another podium result in Munich. The Berlin-based Kai Haase will be eagerly awaiting his return after racing in the ADAC Supercross series and will be looking to return to FMX and bring some new tricks with him.

The French former World Champion Remi Bizouard will return and. The Czech Flip-Combo-King Petr Pilat (CZE) wants to attack the leader board after his failure to secure many points in Krakow. One rider making their premiere in Munich will be the second Australian rider, Ryan Brown. The runner-up World Champion of 2010, Brice Izzo (FRA) has announced he is bringing his flair back to competition in Munich. Leonardo Fini will also be looking to land his California Roll to dirt again in competition.

Ryan Brown

The side program will be bursting at the seams. In the LifeProof Race & Style contest, riders will battle head-to-head to get around the track the fastest and with the biggest tricks to bring a little Supercross feeling back to the Olympiahalle. In the Maxxis Highest Air, the record holder Massimo Bianconcini (ITA) will be looking to push the world record once again.

For the past five years, the longest running Freestyle MX sport series has been the main nutrient for adrenaline junkies and motor sport fans in the Bavarian capital. The fifth round of 2017 will not disappoint with talk of the biggest tricks in FMX being attempted by the best riders in the world.
